Rising from the depths of the film industry, becoming a cult from the moment it was released and quickly becoming a classic, the Mad Max saga is an exceptional case, perhaps even unique in the history of cinema.

Now acclaimed by the critics and praised by the most prestigious institutions, these five films have never, in the almost quarter of a century of their existence, lost any of their power to fascinate the general public. In the process, they have built a unique identity for Australian cinema and revealed not only a star, Mel Gibson, but also, and above all, one of the most important auteurs of his generation, George Miller, who has won Oscars and been congratulated at the Cannes Film Festival.

But more importantly, they have left an indelible mark on the collective unconscious: our vision of the apocalypse and, by extension, of the quintessence of human civilisations, has never been the same since the 1979 release of Mad Max.

We're going to tell the story of this phenomenon, from the humble origins of the first film to the monumental final opuses, rare instances of auteur blockbusters. Supported by interviews and rare, even unpublished archives, and built around a strong graphic line, our documentary is the exegesis that was missing from the epic of the road warrior.
